Daylight Saving Ends November 1st

The end of "Daylight Savings Time" is right around the corner—the time that ushers in earlier nightfall. You may have heard me and D.A (Damon Amendolara) complaining on his CBS radio show in regards to Daylight Savings altogether (for the record, we aren't the only ones as there are multiple bills in place to try to end it here in the U.S.), but in the interim, there are some great gadgets that can help keep you and your home safe and visible as the days get shorter.

GE Lighting Smart Bulbs

I have had the opportunity to work with GE Lighting for many years, and they have several innovative hi-tech smart light bulbs.

Here are two that are great for staying safe and keeping your home visible:

LED+ Dusk to Dawn Smart Bulbs

These energy-efficient LED bulbs have a built-in sensor to detect ambient light. As the sun goes down, these bulbs automatically turn on. Then when the sun comes up, the bulbs turn off. No scheduling needed, as they are naturally smart. These are great for that front porch light or the lamp in the living room to provide extra security Set up is easy—simply screw in the lightbulb and make sure the sensor on the bulb is pointing outwards so it can detect natural light. Choose from a variety of styles, including one that I really like for holiday windows, the candelabra

LED+ Motion-activated Smart Bulbs

These easy-to-use LED energy-efficient smart bulbs provide motion-activated security with settings that are easy to control. Choose from a variety of styles and link up to 30 bulbs together to create a motion sensor system for your home. These smart bulbs come with three activation timer settings, three dusk to dawn settings, three motion sensitivity settings, and five brightness settings—you can program your lighting specifications easily with a simple toggle on the bulb.

Brooks Running – Run Visible Collection

As a self-proclaimed nerd and a big runner, I'm constantly amazed by the endless array of new technologies and fabrics being introduced into the fitness world. Brooks Running has just unveiled a new "Run Visible" lineup of gear spanning from head-to-toe with socks and shoes, hoodies, and hats. The built-in reflectivity keeps you clearly visible on early morning walks or nighttime (gotta get this in) runs.

Noxgear LightHound Pet Vest

Noxgear has an illuminated vest for your best friend's walks. It's called "The LightHound," and it uses patented technology to provide visibility for your pet up to ¼th of a mile. The device comes in both solid and multi-color flashing modes in a wide variety of colors, and the rechargeable battery lasts up to 12 hours. Best of all, the vest is machine washable so you can go off-road with no worries.
