Katie Linendoll Shares STEM and Science Gadgets on The Weather Channel
It was a fun morning on Weather Channel “AMHQ” highlighting National STEM and National Science Day. I shared some favorite science and STEM toys that will keep kids entertained and also provide (shhh!) a little education. Info and full segment below.
CIRCUIT EXPLORER
Learn the fundamentals of circuitry with these easy building kits from Educational Insights. Three unique and easy to build projects that incorporate engineering, sound effects and lights.
My nephew got so into it! He built three boxes one after the other, including a rocket, a Mars Rover and a Base Station complete with its own comms tower and (our favorite!) a burger commissary. The pieces are very easy to work with and click together with ease. It’s fun to bring the different creations to life while at the same time teachings kids a little STEM.
PROFESSOR MAXWELL’S VIRTUAL REALITY SCIENCE LAB
This science lab kit has all the things you would expect from beakers to baking soda, but it adds another immersive dimension that includes virtual reality.
Twenty-five science projects come to life with nearly 150 virtual and augmented reality experiments. Make crystals, perfume or there’s even a classic volcano eruption. Our last experiment was creating slime!
MARIO KART LIVE HOME CIRCUIT
Over the past few months, as you can imagine, interest in gaming has increased and now you can bring one of the most popular games of all time right into your own living room.
Mario Kart Live Home Circuit is a fun mix of physical and digital with a twist of augmented reality that pairs with your Nintendo Switch console. The kit comes with a Mario Kart that is similar to a remote control car and race gates to zip through. Create your own race tracks and use household items for obstacles. The augmented reality component helps kids get hands on with various types of new media.
