Katie Linendoll on Weather Channel – Protect Your Tech from Extreme Heat

Summer is here and with the season comes those hot summer days – great for the beach, but not so great for your tech. Keep your smartphones and laptops protected with this tech that I featured on The Weather Channel’s “AMHQ”.

TV segment and info on products below:

Salt Cases

Let’s start with some NASA inspired technology to keep your laptop and cell phone safe from extreme heat.

As we know electronics and heat don’t mix well. Salt Cases use a patented layering technology to redirect heat. This science also protects your battery from being potentially damaged. Salt Cases tout they are certified space technology AND they will work both in extreme heat and cold, so they’re a wise choice year round.

Beach Safe

There is nothing like stressing about your valuables, as you try to enjoy yourself in the water.

This patent pending personal safe, appropriately called “beachsafe,” will keep your valuables safe and cool poolside or at the beach by attaching it to something secure.

Made in the USA, this gadget has a:

  • 4-digit programmable lock

  • 3 foot stainless steel cable

  • Built in charger with a solar panel and a battery pack

  • Two USB ports and a cooling fan so your smartphones don’t overheat.

  • Water resistant and airtight

Venture Heat 3 Speed Cooling Vest

And one last gadget to keep YOU cool – I can’t believe something like this isn’t already on the market.

The easy to use 3 speed cooling vest turns on with the touch of a button – it is lightweight and cools your body down with a built in fan that runs at three different speeds. Great for outdoor work or even vacationing. The lightweight mesh vest comes various sizes and color options including grey, yellow or orange for high visibility. I would like to see the cooling dispersed a bit more evenly through the vest, but for hours outside in the sweltering heat it’s a refreshing start.

Note – it’s an additional $20 for the battery, but if you already have a portable charger it’ll will work just fine and can be inserted right into the vest pocket.
