Becoming Minnie Mouse 2.0 on The View
It was such a fun Halloween on The View! The theme was cartoon characters and I appropriately dressed as my cartoon spirit animal “Minnie Mouse” because I love all things cute, sweet and polka dots. But of course, I had to kick this up with a modern twist.
If you follow me you know every Halloween I go all out! I was excited to have my mom who is a costumer create a light up Minnie Mouse outfit. Here are a few of the details!
My mom reworked a standard longsleeve black shirt from the Gap. We purchased a longsleeve black shirt that she cut to ¾ sleeves and added an oversized peter pan collar.
Using a long red and white polka dot skirt she created a massive custom crinoline underneath and hand-stitched in forty LED lights and in total four battery packs.
My mom sewed on Bluetooth suction cup waterproof speakers on the mouse ears headband. I added some Minnie sound effects to my iPhone that could be played right through the ears. The weight of the speakers had to be anchored with a lot of wiring in my hair.
My platform shoes from Modcloth can be filled with anything from candies to flowers – I actually had custom m&ms printed out that said “Minnie” and “Mouse” but opted for red, white and yellow gumballs for a bigger impact.
My nail artist Emi Aoki appropriately hand painted my nails in red and white with all the Minnie details.
And last but certainly not least my makeup artist Alicia dreamed up a beautiful Minnie Mouse cartoon paint look head to toe.
And of course as a finishing touch the Minnie Mouse display on my Apple Watch.
